Michael, glad you found us!  Lots of great information here and it's evenly matched by super friendly folks!  We all share a common love of the instrument, and it just happens that many great friendships have happened along the way.  Doesn't get much better than that! I truly hope you enjoy it here!

Hi, Michael, it's good to have you become a part of FOTMD!  Lots of helpful information to be found here-- have fun looking around!

Michael, welcome to FOTMD! I am glad that you find this to be a friendly place. In general all dulcimer players are friendly and helpful people. I think it comes with owning a dulcimer. LOL! Or perhaps only friendly, helpful people choose to play the dulcimer. I am happy that you are here.

Michael; that is what attracted me to become a member of FOTMD in the first place. The welcome and the sense of belong to a great group of folks, who, as Dusty T has pointed out, share a passion and love for such a great and fun instrument.  Again, Michael, welcome to FOTMD and I know you will enjoy your visits.

Everyone here has been very helpful. If you have any questions, I'm sure someone will know the answer. If they don't, they will point you in the right direction. Don't hesitate to ask!

We're nice the first day. But slowly our fangs come out.   Seriously, Michael, most of us are so happy to interact with anyone who shares our passion for the dulcimer that we'll gladly offer commentary, advice, and encouragement (whether you want it or not!).

Visit Strumelia's Beginner Noter-Drone dulcimer Blog

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
