I haven't written much lately, but today I felt a little creative and came up with this little diddy. Might try and put it to music.

Felt a little creative this morning, this kept going through my head so I wrote it down

Stoke the fire

Passions fire might not burn as hot as it once did
And our hair might be gray and a little bit thin
We might not be as young as we once were
But we still like to stoke the fire every now and then

Baby when we were young the embers burned brighter
Than fireworks on the forth of july or the burning sun
We’d stoke the fire till it couldn’t get any hotter
Then bask in the after glow when the deed was done

Now youth is gone and we just keep getting older
We don’t move fast as we did way back then
But I look in your eyes and I can see the smolder
I feel the sparks and I'm on fire once again.

Well we might not be as young we once were
Our hair might be gray and a little bit thin
Passions fire might not burn as hot as it once did
But we still like to stoke the fire every now and then.

So sweet, Dana.  And having seen you & Jim together, it's clear that what you've written isn't fiction.  Happy Valentine's Day to you & your beloved!

Love it Dana! Having arrived quite some time ago at the place your "diddy" talks about, "I still dream about that". That's a line from "Rocky Top" by the way. I'm waiting for you to put some melody to it. Thanks and best wishes.

I meant to add a tag also:

but we still like to stoke the fire every now and then.

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
