Safety notice.
Always wear you're strap when you're dulcimer is on you're lap.
I didn't one time on Tuesday night. Just like a kid that can get away from you, my dulcimer got away from me. Oops! Bang! Off comes the peg head. My heart skipped a beat.
But luckily, no major damage. Peg head just needs to be glued back on.
But just like one of my dulcimer friends advised...

I really have to get my strap attached, so pleased to hear that the damage wasn't worse.

Glad to hear that the accident is repairable. Most of the time I do not play with a strap. I usually only use it in performance or at festivals.

Sorry Bill for the injury to your dulcimer, glad it wasn't worseI never play without a strap, but there are those that don't any never have a problem. What is worse is playing with a group of dulcimer players and one hits your dulcimer with theirs

Visit Strumelia's Beginner Noter-Drone dulcimer Blog

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
