Bradley places 2nd at Winfield, our thanks

Last weekend, our. grandson, Bradley Ellis placed 2nd in the National Mountain Dulcimer Competition in Winfield, Kansas. We have so many people to thank for their contribution in making this wonderful event happen. Joe Collins...We can't say enough about his teaching,. but more than that, we can't say enough wonderful things about the man. He is Bradley's friend. For that we will be forever grateful. He has a wonderful music theory teacher, Linn Pedalty. While working on the piano, he learned so much about music and also about his own ability. Marlena Gold started piano with Bradley at a much younger age than most because she recognized his love for music. Ben Seymore taught Bradley to look at all types of music for the dulcimer. Bradley has attended workshops and has been inspired by many great teachers, Bing Futch, Stephen Seifert, Steve Eulberg, Mollie McCormick, Alan Darveaux, Bruce Ford, Aaron O'Rourke,Jeff Furman, Marsha Harris(she actually picked up on his ability before anyone)Jeff Hames, a long list of folks at Unicoi and WCU dulcimer week. He has fallen madly in love with two lovely dulcimer ladies, Elaine Conger and Erin Rogers. (Elaine thinks that he could actually do worse). He has been inspired by many friends in his greatest dulcimer love, Jam Sessions, especially young friend Nathanial Samsel. We know that we have missed someone that should be listed. Just know that we thank you also. Jo & Ray Anthony

Visit Strumelia's Beginner Noter-Drone dulcimer Blog

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
