Hello Rob:  I am planning to attend Saturday's Winter Jam. Is there any more info that I need? Do you know the church address? If not I can find it. Peace

Bill if you're coming up 79 get off at the downtown Fairmont exit.  Go toward Fairmont; you'll finally go around 2 roundabouts then get in the left lane.  You'll be at a light with a bridge (the $1,000,000 bridge) in front you; turn left.  You'll cross a bridge with a curve in it, go up a hill and then come to a stop light.  The church building is in front of you.  Go through the light and the parking lot is on the left, come up and go in the side door.  The address is 301 Fairmont Ave.  I'll pm you my cell phone number in case there's any problem!

I don't know if you know Luanna Moore, but she's in Elkins, too and comes up for these.  However, she will not be at either this one or the March one.  She said, but I don't remember.

thanks Rob. Your directions are very clear.

I do know Luanna, I picked up the DAD tuning from her and she plays every month at the nursing home where my dad lives. she is a very special person.

I realize that tomorrow's weather forecast is appropriate for a winter jam, however I think it is best for me to stay home. Sorry.

We'll miss you, Bill, but I understand.  Jim Fawcett & Kevin Messinger are still planning on coming so hopefully the new snow will hold off 'til after 3

You betcha,I headin out tomorrow morning. Just have the roads plowed for me, Rob.

Rob,

Is the Gardner Festival worth trying to attend? Is there a lot of dulcimer type things going on? I'd love to do the Prickett's Fort thing as I used to do a lot of living history stuff there and know most of the folks , but that is Mother's Day weekend and we usually take the family camping that weekend.

Scott

Scott, Not a lot of dulcimer, but some.  There are jams and some on stage.  It's an interesting time tho'.  Here's their website: http://www.gwmf.org/

Rob

Thanks Rob. Anybody planning on attending this one?

Scott

I'm going to try to get there for at least part of the day, Scott.  At least that's my plan right now.

Scott, the next one I attend will be Patty Fest in June. Like to see you there, too.

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
