I want to extend a personal, special invitation to all of  you to come to the first "Raintree Music Heritage Festival,"  May 11,12, in Spiceland, IN. Really easy to get to,  just a couple miles from junction of Indiana 3 and Interstate 70.  Right around the same time of year that the Blue River Festival was held.  But it no longer exists.   We have some of the very best instructors, workshops on every acoustic instrument you can imagine.  The location is besider a beautiful little park, so if the weather is good, lots of outdoor jamming is a great possibility. The church is a great location, but registration will need to be limited to 200, and workshop sizes will likewise need to be limited.  So I'm hoping you will all plan now to attend and get your registrations in as soon as possible.  Go to our website and see the great lineup of instructors we have and the superb workshop schedule.  And probably about a 2 hour concert Saturday night.  Website:  raintreemusicheritagefestival.weebly.com           If we have the turnout we are expecting, this will become an annual event.

Kentucky Music Weekend update:
Just a reminder! The Louisville Dulcimer Society will host jamming on Saturday afternoon under a tent under the trees by the Iroquois Ampitheater. Everyone is welcome to join us there for some fun! You don't have to be an LDS member to participate, it is for everyone! Thanks, Teri

Well, another Kentucky Music Week is over and I'm almost finished with all the finalizin' details. Just in time to get goin' on the 34th Annual Kentucky Music Weekend, Iroquois Amphitheater in Louisville July 30 and 31. It's a great lineup this year and I hope all my dulcimer friends will be able to come.
We host the Kentucky state dulcimer and hammered dulcimer championship contests! Lots of dulcimer artists this year, too, with Steve Seifert, Bing Futch, Rick Thum, Molly McCormack and more! Kentucky Standard Band may even do a tune or two! Check out our web site: www.kentuckymusicweekend.com for more info.

Ok I used to work for Ma Bell till the split and lost my job in 86. My husband lost his when C&O merged with L&N and became CSX. My husband welded as a side line so we desided to open our own buisness McCall's Welding and I have been The Head Glorified Gofer ever since. I started playing dulcimer with Strings of Friendship Oct. 2008 I bought a dulcimer a yr before that and had tried playing on my own but I've really learned a lot from the group. I suggest anyone try and find a group in your area it really helps and it's a lot of fun. Nita I think you will really enjoy Teri and Bill at the LDS So JUMP IN and have some fun.

My daughter's birthday is May 7 and she turns 30 - so it's a big one! I would love to go...but probably won't be able to do that this year. I hear it is a wonderful event and a lot of folks go there that miss some of the others you go to, Dana. Terry Lewis is just plain wonderful!

Visit Strumelia's Beginner Noter-Drone dulcimer Blog

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
