Hi Betty - Just ask when you check in and I'll help you retune.  Tune the melody A string up to D above middle C.  Now you D scale starts on 0 instead of 3.

Hope that's not to confusing.  Ruth

I have never attended a workshop/festival before and I am really looking forward to being there.  Two of my students are also coming.  They are very excited also.  I have never tuned my dulcimer to DAD before and I understand most of the classes are in DAD.  I have looked up all I can on the tuning procedure but I still am hoping that someone will take pity on the 3 of us and show how to retune from DAA to DAD.  Hope to meet the others from FOTMD group!

Visit Strumelia's Beginner Noter-Drone dulcimer Blog

I have a main blog for Traditional style mountain dulcimer playing here: Mountain Dulcimer Noter-drone Blog This is an old style of playing where you only fret your notes on the melody string, while letting the drones strings ring open. In my blog, I express my personal views about playing, I offer free TAB and free beginner videos, and I try to help beginners understand in a very basic simple way the 'mysteries' of playing the mountain dulcimer in traditional modal noter/drone style.
